RENOWNED ACTOR ADEBAYO FALETI PASSES ON


Another huge loss in the Nigerian film, theatre and literary World, with the passing away  of renowned actor, poet, playwright , broadcaster and journalist, Adebayo Faleti. According to reports, Faleti died in his Ibadan home at 6 a.m this morning, after observing morning devotion with his family. He was 86 years old.  



Adebayo Faleti attended the University of Dakar, Senegal and then the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; obtaining a certificate of proficiency in French & Civilization and an Honours Degree in English Language respectively. He also received a certificate in Television Production from the Radio Netherlands Training Centre in Hilversum, Netherlands.
Among his many achievements was translating  the country’s national anthem from English to Yoruba, publishing a dictionary of Yoruba names and their uses, produced and performed in several Yoruba plays and movies; which includes  Magun (Thunderbolt), Saworide, and Basorun Gaa. During his life time, Faleti received many local and international awards; including the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), the Festival of Arts Award  and the Afro-Hollywood Award for Outstanding Performance in Arts.
