ACADEMY AWARDS 2017 LIST: SO...WHO GOT SNUBBED THIS YEAR?

The 89th Academy Awards is slated to take place on the 26th of February and will be hosted by television host, Jimmy Kimmel. The long awaited nomination list was  released yesterday, with the romantic musical comedy-drama La La Land- which starred Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling- taking the lead with a grand total of 14 nominations.

However there were several appalling snubs; Amy Adams for her performance in Arrival, Empire's Taraji P. Henson for Hidden Figures (which  by the way earned huge in the box-office, but at least being nominated for Best Picture) as well as Pharell Williams who was co-producer (and writer of its soundtracks), Annette Bening for 20th Century Woman and  British actor Hugh Grant who played Meryl Streep's long suffering husband in Florence Foster Jenkins.
It gets worse... Martin Scorsese who directed Silence was also ignored, Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Actor but not for directing Fences or multi award winner Clint Eastwood for the biopic Sully. Two films that surprisingly didn't make the list were The Birth of A Nation and the much hyped Dead Pool. Ouch!
